The TMA has a robust internship program. Working with the University of Texas at Tyler, college students can learn the ins and outs of the museum world for college credit. Depending on their courses of study, we provide them with hands-on learning in collection management, promotional and marketing practices, museum education, and gallery procedures that last one semester.
We also provide recently-graduated artists and art historians with a full-time, paid internship that lasts for six months. Most of them use this opportunity as a bridge between undergraduate and graduate studies.
Rounding out our program, we offer unpaid internships and volunteer opportunities to outstanding graduate students working in the visual arts. Students from the University of Texas at Tyler, Stephen F. Austin University, and Johns Hopkins University in Washington, DC have taken advantage of this program recently.
