“Between the States” Now Open

Our exhibition of Civil War-era photography opens today, December 19th. Admission is free. It features more than 120 images from the Civil War, along with artifacts from Tyler’s past. Did you know that Tyler was home to Camp Ford, a prisoner-of-war detainment center during the Civil War, and that ordnance and weapons for the war effort were manufactured here? A section of the gallery contains historical artifacts from the mid-1860s, including original photography, paintings, military weapons, and diaries of actual POWs. There are also authentic dresses from the time period and a Confederate frock coat on display. The show will only run through February 15th, so make your tour reservations now!
